Tenvir (Tenofovir )
Brand name: Tenvir
Active Ingeridents(Generic Name) : Tenofovir disoproxil Fumerate
Company Name: Cipla
Package:30 Tablets
Strength : 300mg
Indication:
Tenvir (Tenofovir ) is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. This lowers your chance of getting HIV complications (such as new infections, cancer) and improves your quality of life.
Mechanism of action:
Tenvir (Tenofovir ) is a defective adenosine nucleotide that selectively inhibits the action of reverse transcriptase, while only weakly interfering with mammalian DNA polymerases α, β, and mitochondrial DNA polymerase γ. Tenvir (Tenofovir ) prevents the formation of the 5′ to 3′ phosphodiester linkage essential for DNA chain elongation. A phosphodiester bond cannot be formed because the Tenvir (Tenofovir ) molecule lacks an —OH group on the 3′ carbon of its deoxyribose sugar. Once incorporated into a growing DNA strand, Tenvir (Tenofovir ) causes premature termination of DNA transcription. The drug is classified as a nucleotide analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NtRTI). Reverse transcriptase is a crucial viral enzyme in retroviruses such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and in hepatitis B virus infections.
Dosage and Administration:
Use Tenvir (Tenofovir ) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
· An extra patient leaflet is available with Tenvir (Tenofovir ). Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information.
· Take Tenvir (Tenofovir ) by mouth with or without food.
· Continue to take Tenvir (Tenofovir ) even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
· Taking Tenvir (Tenofovir ) at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
· Do not suddenly stop taking Tenvir (Tenofovir ) without checking with your doctor. This may cause the virus to become less sensitive to this or other medicines. If you have hepatitis B, your condition could become worse if you suddenly stop taking Tenvir (Tenofovir ).
· If you miss a dose of Tenvir (Tenofovir ), take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Mechanism of action:
Daruvir (Darunavir) is a HIV protease inhibitor which prevents HIV replication by binding to the enzyme''s active site, thereby preventing the dimerization and the catalytic activity of the HIV-1 protease. Daruvir (Darunavir) selectively inhibits the cleavage of HIV-encoded Gag-Pol polyproteins in virus-infected cells, which prevents the formation of mature infectious virus particles. Structual analyses suggest that the close contact that Daruvir (Darunavir) has with the main chains of the protease active site amino acids (Asp-29 and Asp-30) is an important contributing factor to its potency and the wide spectrum of activity against multi-protease inhibitor-resistant HIV-1 variants. Daruvir (Darunavir) can also adapt to the changing shape of a protease enzyme because of its molecular flexibility. Daruvir (Darunavir) is known to bind to two distinct sites on the enzyme: the active site cavity and the surface of one of the flexible flaps in the protease dimer.

Empetus (Ritonavir)
Indication:
Empetus (Ritonavir) is an antiretroviral medication used along with other medications to treat HIV/AIDS This combination treatment is known as highly active antiretroviral therapy . Often a low dose is used with other protease inhibitors. It may also be used in combination with other medications for hepatitis C.
Mechanism of action:
Empetus (Ritonavir) was originally developed as an inhibitor of HIV protease. It is one of the most complex inhibitors. It is now rarely used for its own antiviral activity, but remains widely used as a booster of other protease inhibitors. More specifically, Empetus (Ritonavir) is used to inhibit a particular liver enzyme that normally metabolizes protease inhibitors, cytochrome P450-3A4 (CYP3A4). The drug''s molecular structure inhibits CYP3A4, so a low dose can be used to enhance other protease inhibitors. This discovery, which has drastically reduced the adverse effects and improved the efficacy of protease inhibitors and HAART, was first communicated in an article published in the journal AIDS in 1997 by researchers at the University of Liverpool. This effect does come with a price: it also affects the efficacy of numerous other medications, making it difficult to know how to administer them concurrently.
Dosage and Administration:
Use Empetus (Ritonavir) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
· Take Empetus (Ritonavir) by mouth with meals.
· Swallow Empetus (Ritonavir) whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.
· Continue to take Empetus (Ritonavir) even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Side effects:
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Abnormal skin sensations, especially around the mouth, fingers, and toes; diarrhea; headache; loss of appetite; mild stomach pain; nausea; taste changes; tiredness; vomiting; weakness.
Precaution:
Before taking Empetus (Ritonavir), tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: diabetes, heart problems (coronary artery disease, heart attack), hemophilia, high cholesterol/triglycerides, gout/high uric acid in the blood, liver problems (such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C), pancreatitis

LamivirHBV
Brand name: LamivirHBV
Active Ingeridents(Generic Name) : Lamivudine
Company Name: Cipla
Package:10 Tablets
Strength : 100mg
Indication:This drug is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. This lowers your chance of getting HIV complications (such as new infections, cancer) and improves your quality of life. LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) belongs to a class of drugs known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors-NRTI.
Mechanism of action:
LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) is an analogue of cytidine. It can inhibit both types of HIV reverse transcriptase and also the reverse transcriptase of hepatitis B virus. It is phosphorylated to active metabolites that compete for incorporation into viral DNA. They inhibit the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme competitively and act as a chain terminator of DNA synthesis. The lack of a 3''-OH group in the incorporated nucleoside analogue prevents the formation of the 5'' to 3'' phosphodiester linkage essential for DNA chain elongation, and therefore, the viral DNA growth is terminated.
LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) is administered orally, and it is rapidly absorbed with a bio-availability of over 80%. Some research suggests that LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) can cross the blood–brain barrier. LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) is often given in combination with zidovudine, with which it is highly synergistic. LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) treatment has been shown to restore zidovudine sensitivity of previously resistant HIV. LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) showed no evidence of carcinogenicity or mutagenicity in in vivo studies in mice and rats at doses from 10 to 58 times those used in humans.
Dosage and Administration:
Use LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
· Take LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) by mouth with or without food.
· Continue to take LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
· Taking LamivirHBV (Lamivudine) at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
· If you miss a dose of LamivirHBV (Lamivudine), take it as soon as possible. If it is within 2 hours of your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Side effects:
See also Warning section.

Nevimune (Nevirapine)
Brand name: Nevimune
Active Ingeridents(Generic Name) : Nevirapine
Company Name: Cipla
Package:60 Tablets/Bottle
Strength : 200mg
Indication:
This drug is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. This lowers your chance of getting HIV complications (such as new infections, cancer) and improves your quality of life. Nevimune (Nevirapine) belongs to a class of drugs known as non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs).
Mechanism of action:
Nevimune (Nevirapine) falls in the non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) class of antiretrovirals. Both nucleoside and non-nucleoside RTIs inhibit the same target, the reverse transcriptase enzyme, an essential viral enzyme which transcribes viral RNA into DNA. Unlike nucleoside RTIs, which bind at the enzyme's active site, NNRTIs bind allosterically at a distinct site away from the active site termed the NNRTI pocket.
Nevimune (Nevirapine) is not effective against HIV-2, as the pocket of the HIV-2 reverse transcriptase has a different structure, which confers intrinsic resistance to the NNRTI class.
Resistance to Nevimune (Nevirapine) develops rapidly if viral replication is not completely suppressed. The most common mutations observed after Nevimune (Nevirapine) treatment are Y181C and K103N, which are also observed with other NNRTIs. As all NNRTIs bind within the same pocket, viral strains which are resistant to Nevimune (Nevirapine) are usually also resistant to the other NNRTIs, efavirenz and delavirdine. However, second generation NNRTIs like rilpivirine and etravirine are effective in treatment for HIV strains resistant to Nevimune (Nevirapine) and other first generation drugs in that same class.
Dosage and Administration:
Use Nevimune (Nevirapine) as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
· Nevimune (Nevirapine) comes with an extra patient information sheet called a Medication Guide. Read it carefully. Read it again each time you get Nevimune (Nevirapine) refilled.
· Take Nevimune (Nevirapine) by mouth with or without food.
· Taking Nevimune (Nevirapine) at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
· Continue to take Nevimune (Nevirapine) even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Side effects:
Tiredness, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea may occur. Drowsiness may rarely occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
